We are becoming a people transformed into the image of Christ. A J-Term (or June-Term) provides space for us to engage areas where we long to see God’s transformation.
Select a course, Register HERE, and you will meet with others at the church building over that topic for 4 Thursdays in June (7-8:15PM), and then all J-Terms join together to pray Compline in the sanctuary (8:15-8:30PM).
Details of each course are below! If any course requires a purchase of materials and that is cost prohibitive, please reach out to Mtr. Sarah and the church would be happy to help.
Anglicanism 101
Led by COTC Clergy & Friends
COTC is an Anglican church, but what does that mean? Come learn about the theological convictions, history, and practices of this tradition. More than that, come learn how these elements might help you know and follow Jesus more closely. Participants are invited to check out from the library or purchase a copy of Winfield Bevin’s Simply Anglican, as we will be reading it together!
This class is a requisite step in the adult confirmation/reception process. Please email Mtr. Sarah if you are interested in entering that process. Confirmations & receptions will take place during services on 6/28.
Practicing the Presence
Led by Karen Walker
What does a 17th century French monk have to teach us about life in the Spirit in our overcrowded age? Quite a lot, in fact, and with fewer words that you'd think! Join us as we read Brother Lawrence's letters, entitled Practicing the Presence(for purchase or download), that we may say with him, "The time of business does not with me differ from the time of prayer, and in the noise and clatter of my kitchen...I possess God in as great tranquility as if I were upon my knees at the blessed sacrament!"
Like Dew Your Youth: Parenting Teens
Led by Randy and Dawn Hill, LPC
Together we will read Eugene Petersen’s Like Dew Your Youthand have open discussions about what it is like to grow up with your teenager. We will be looking at what Scripture has to say on the topic and consider the far-reaching outcomes that this has not only for your teenager, yourself, but also society now and in the future.
