Earlier this summer, in a sermon on the parable of the Great Banquet, I focused on the theme of Kingdom Hospitality. I encouraged us to leave space in our fall calendars for practices of Kingdom Hospitality. I’m excited to share that we have several opportunities to practice hospitality through our Kids Club Ministry. Continue reading below to learn more about Kids Club and how your household can get involved.

In the summer of 2022, led by Father Jonathan Abraham Kindberg, Kids Club was launched in an apartment complex in the St Johns Neighborhood. Since then, nearly every Wednesday night, children have gathered to hear Bible stories, make crafts, learn about God’s love for them, play, and eat pizza. Although Jonathan and his wife, Lini, relocated to Houston earlier this summer, the COTC Missions Team agreed to provide financial support to missional residents Jordan Goheen and Jose Salguero, who live in the apartment complex where Kids Club is held, to continue the ministry. Along with Jordan and Jose, Tatiana Martinez, who has been a part of Kids Club from the beginning, has stepped up in new ways to provide leadership. As we look ahead, our prayer is for Kids Club to become more integrated into the life and mission of COTC.

One of the primary goals for Kids Club between now and December is to increase the number of people connected to the ministry. One specific need is for 12 new volunteers who can serve on Wednesday evenings. We also realize that for many, making it to St Johns on a Wednesday evening just isn’t possible. The good news is that there are ways to serve on other occasions, and you can even support the ministry from home. We believe that through Kids Club, God ministers not only to the children and families served, but also to those who serve and build friendships with the community in St Johns.

We’d love to see our church body respond to this need by choosing one way to serve Kids Club before the end of the year. Click here to see the various opportunities to become involved.
