Dear church,

Like many of you, we are staying tuned to the weather! We’ll communicate via email by Saturday evening if there is a change to Sunday worship.

If it is unwise to gather in person, we will gather online at 10AM! A liturgy for morning prayer and a link for the zoom meeting will be sent in the Saturday evening email. Bonus: Ms. Briana will lead a kids’ lesson at 9:30AM. Though aimed at ages 2 through 5th graders, all are welcome!

I invite us to be in prayer for our community, both at Church of the Cross and beyond, and particularly for our unhoused neighbors. In the Daily Office there is a prayer that draws from Psalm 9:18 you might use as a refrain of intercession while making preparations: “Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor be taken away.”

If you know someone who needs acute assistance - maybe they weren’t able to register for cold weather shelter and need a warming center - consider checking Open Now.

Should needs arise within our church community, I encourage us to lean on one another for prayer and care, and commend the Good Neighbor Fund as a place to extend help and receive care should the weather bring loss.

An entirely different way to sow into that kind of community - of building relationships of prayer and care - is to be a part of a Neighborhood Group! These will start up on 2/1, so if you haven’t had a chance to join one yet, consider reaching out to a leader in your area to hear more.

In prayer for you and our city,

Sarah+
