Hi beloved COTC Family,
Parish Retreat Weekend is upon us! For many in our community, this is a highlight of the year, filled with laughter, good food, time in God’s word, and fellowship.
As we prepare for the parish retreat, we also want to acknowledge the dissonance between this weekend and the last. As many of you know, last weekend COTC parishioner Eleanor Roberts departed this life and is now in the presence of the Lord. During services on October 11th, we grieved and prayed together, and Mtr Sarah offered a pastoral word on how we might come alongside Eleanor’s husband, Jake, and others in our community who are mourning. You can listen to her message here (beginning around 46:20).
Sorrow and joy often exist side by side, sometimes overlapping. Amidst this dissonance, there is also a resonance when we gather together as a community held by Jesus, whether to worship, pray, or retreat.
For those attending the retreat, we are SO glad you’re coming. Come as you are, ready to receive all that God has for you. It’s our prayer that whether we see you next at the parish retreat or on Sunday morning, you are met and held by Jesus.
In the love and peace of Christ,
Kimberly+
