Today we continue our Lenten devotional series. Whether you’ve tracked along or not, jump in with us!
As you begin, take a few deep breaths. This impacts our ability to be present, allowing us to give God our full attention. Invite the Holy Spirit to speak to you afresh.
Spend some time looking at the image.
What stands out to you?
How are color and light used? What does that communicate to you? What impact does that have on you?
Read Psalm 33:12-21.
How does this add to what you are seeing? Is there other Scripture that comes to mind?
Reflect on the passage, and look again at the image.
Ask the Lord, “What do you want me to hear today?” Invite him to connect what you’re seeing and hearing with your life this day. Is there an invitation he has for you?
Pray.
What do you want to say to God?
The Collect
Closing your prayers, join with the global and historic church in praying the Collect for this Sunday:
The Second Sunday in Lent
Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities that may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts that may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

“Redemption of Ashes” was created progressively through the weeks of Lent in 2018. “The painting is about us, Church of the Cross, and also, ultimately, the church universal, as we deal with our ashes and walk in the redemption of the Light of Christ.”
