Today we continue our Lenten devotional series.  Whether you’ve tracked along or not, jump in with us!

As you begin, take a few deep breaths. This impacts our ability to be present, allowing us to give God our full attention. Invite the Holy Spirit to speak to you afresh.

Spend some time looking at the image.

Hold the title of this piece in your mind - “Redemption of Ashes.” As you consider this, what do you notice about the piece?
Where do you notice redemption? Where do you see ashes? What words come to mind?

Read John 4:5-30, noticing interior and exterior postures.
How does this add to what you are seeing?

Reflect on the passage, and look again at the image.
Ask the Lord, “What do you want me to hear today?” Invite him to connect what you’re seeing and hearing with your life as it stands today. Is there an invitation he has for you?

Pray.

What do you want to say to God?

The Collect

Closing your prayers, join with the global and historic church in praying the Collect for this Sunday:

The Third Sunday in Lent

Heavenly Father, you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you: Look with compassion upon the heartfelt desires of your servants, and purify our disordered affections, that we may behold your eternal glory in the face of Christ Jesus; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.
